Our take
A smart plug is the smart-home product that does not require faith. You plug in a lamp. You name it. You turn it off from the couch. Two weeks later you set a sunset schedule. That is how people actually start, not with a 20-device hub diagram.
Tapo’s mini plug is the one we like because it does not block the second outlet as badly as chunkier plugs. The app is plain enough that you will not need a YouTube tutorial for the basics.
Read the wattage limit. Space heaters and big appliances are how people get into trouble. Lamps and chargers are the use case.
