Our take
Pixel 9 is the phone we hand to someone who says “I just want my pictures to look good.” Google’s processing is the product. Faces, food, and indoor family shots come out usable without a weekend in Lightroom.
The software is the other reason it stays in this roundup. Pixel UI is still closer to stock Android than most brands, and the helpful bits — call screening, photo tools, transcription — show up in real life, not just keynotes.
It is not the phone for 10x zoom bragging or for people who need Samsung’s DeX workflow. It is the phone for a calmer Android that takes better-than-average photos on day one.
