Our take
Venu 3 is the Garmin we recommend when someone wants a pretty screen but still cares about training load, not just step badges. AMOLED makes the watch feel modern. The software still thinks like a coach: recovery, sleep, and whether you should push today.
If your main need is iMessage replies, stay with Apple. If your main need is “did I actually recover,” Garmin is less noisy and more useful. Phone independence is a real advantage for Android users and for mixed-household setups.
Learn two or three glances and ignore the rest of the widget pile at first. Garmin overwhelm is how people quit in week one.
